El Salvador launches civil servants Bitcoin certification, collaborates with Argentina

  • El Salvador launches 160-hour Bitcoin certification for 80,000 civil servants.
  • The program aims to enhance governance and build a Bitcoin-ready workforce.
  • Argentina collaborates with El Salvador to learn from its Bitcoin adoption success.

The El Salvador government, through its National Bitcoin Office (ONBTC), has embarked on an ambitious initiative to upskill 80,000 civil servants with a comprehensive Bitcoin certification program.

This is part of the nation’s ongoing commitment to integrating Bitcoin (BTC) into its economy and governance.

The certification program, named “Certification in Public Administration 1,” consists of a 160-hour virtual and asynchronous course divided into seven modules. Each module is designed to impart essential knowledge about Bitcoin, including its legal framework, strategic management, and the public policies surrounding its use as legal tender.

The Higher School of Innovation in Public Administration (ESIAP), established by President Nayib Bukele in August 2021, will conduct the training, aiming to elevate the standard of governance in El Salvador.

Stacy Herbert, director of ONBTC, expressed optimism about the program’s long-term impact. She believes that educating civil servants on Bitcoin will have a “compounding effect” on the nation’s economy. “These education projects are low-time preference commitments to the long-term success of El Salvador and its Bitcoin (and tech) policy,” Herbert stated.

This initiative is part of a broader strategy to create a Bitcoin-ready workforce, further solidifying the country’s reputation as a global pioneer in cryptocurrency adoption.

Argentina seeks to learn from El Salvador’s Bitcoin experience

El Salvador’s success with Bitcoin has also garnered international attention, particularly from Argentina. The South American nation, grappling with economic challenges, has sought to learn from El Salvador’s experience.

Argentina’s National Securities Commission (CNV) kicked off discussions with El Salvador’s National Commission of Digital Assets (CNAD) in May 2024 to explore collaboration opportunities in cryptocurrency regulation and adoption.

During a meeting between the two nations, Roberto Silva, president of Argentina’s CNV, emphasized the importance of strengthening ties with El Salvador. He hinted at potential collaboration agreements to leverage El Salvador’s insights into Bitcoin adoption, reflecting a growing interest in the cryptocurrency’s role in stabilizing economies facing hyperinflation.

As El Salvador continues to champion Bitcoin, its efforts are not only transforming its own public sector but also inspiring other nations to explore the potential of digital currencies.

Floki token holders to receive Simon’s Cat (CAT) token in airdrop

  • Binance will airdrop 900 billion CAT tokens to FLOKI holders on August 29, 2024.
  • On-chain holders of 400,000 FLOKI will receive 315 billion CAT tokens.
  • 5% of CAT supply allocated to Floki Trading Bot users over 30 days.

Floki ($FLOKI) token holders are set to receive a substantial airdrop of Simon’s Cat ($CAT) tokens. The airdrop is part of Simon’s Cat’s launch strategy and highlights the growing significance of meme coins in the cryptocurrency market.

The airdrop, scheduled for August 29, 2024, will be facilitated by Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, marking a notable integration of new assets into the market.

Binance support for Simon’s Cat airdrop

Binance will play a crucial role in the airdrop by directly crediting CAT tokens to FLOKI holders on its platform.

Binance will take a snapshot of FLOKI holdings on August 29, 2024. To qualify, users must hold a minimum of 400,000 FLOKI tokens, which translates to roughly $50 at current prices.

The airdrop will distribute a total of 900 billion CAT tokens, representing 20% of Simon’s Cat’s total supply allocated to the Floki community. This move aims to enhance user engagement and extend the reach of Simon’s Cat within the crypto ecosystem.

On-chain airdrop and trading bot allocation

In addition to the Binance-supported airdrop, Simon’s Cat will also conduct an on-chain airdrop. This distribution will provide 315 billion CAT tokens, equivalent to 3.5% of the total supply, to FLOKI holders who maintain their tokens on-chain.

To be eligible, holders must retain at least 400,000 FLOKI tokens, and the airdrop will be proportionate to the amount held. Two snapshots will be taken: one on August 22, 2024, and a final one on August 29, 2024. To qualify, participants must hold their tokens through both snapshots without transferring or selling them in between.

Moreover, 1.5% of the CAT supply will be allocated exclusively to users of the Floki Trading Bot over 30 days. The exact details of this distribution will be revealed in a separate announcement. Other centralized exchanges are also expected to host CAT airdrops, with specifics still being finalized.

This airdrop strategy underscores the ongoing popularity of meme coins in the crypto market, despite recent slowdowns in trading volumes. As the meme coin craze persists, initiatives like these continue to drive enthusiasm and participation in the cryptocurrency space.

Brett explodes as Bitcoin Dogs eyes top crypto exchange listings

  • Brett ($BRETT) exploded more than 30% as Binance Futures and Upbit announced token listing.
  • Bitcoin Dogs ($0DOG) is also poised for listing on three major exchanges on August 21.
  • Could the listing be a good opportunity to buy $BRETT and $0DOG?

Brett ($BRETT), the top meme coin on Base, has surged by more than 30% in the past 24 hours to trade above $0.1. The memecoin’s price rose as the community cheered the latest positive announcements related to the token’s traction and visibility in the market. While a lot of attention is on $BRETT price, significant interest is likely to engulf Bitcoin Dogs ($0DOG).

Like $BRETT, $0DOG has some major crypto exchange listing milestones coming up. What crypto exchanges are set to list Bitcoin Dogs and what does it mean for $0DOG?

BRETT surges as Upbit, Binance Futures list token

Brett ($BRETT) reached highs of $0.10 after rallying over 30% in 24 hours. The meme coin saw its volume spike more than 220%.

Pushing $BRETT higher was news of major crypto exchange listings. Upbit, South Korea’s largest crypto exchange, has listed $BRETT. The announcement also included token listing for Pepe ($PEPE), with both having the USDT trading pair.

Upbit also listed $PEPE, whose price has also spiked in the past 24 hours to touch levels last seen on August 14.

Meanwhile, Binance Futures also launched the BRETTUSDT Perpetual Contract on August 20 at 10:35 am UTC. The news helped $BRETT price to climb, with the world’s largest crypto exchange offering up to 50x leverage.

Bitcoin Dogs: Under 24 hours until $0DOG lists on major exchange

Interest in Bitcoin Dogs, the GameFi and NFT project leveraging the Bitcoin network, helped it raise over $13.4 million in presale. Now the next phase of the $0DOG token is set to begin on August 21.

On this date, three major exchanges will list Bitcoin Dogs – marking the entry of the world’s first BRC-20 ICO into the trading market.

On August 21, 2024 at 11 UTC, Gate.io, MEXC and Unisat will list $0DOG. Users will also be able to claim their tokens and enter the crypto market.

Is Bitcoin Dogs an attractive opportunity?

The exchange listing milestones are key to Bitcoin Dogs future performance.

But that’s not all. Having launched the first-ever ICO on Bitcoin with its BRC-20 token, Bitcoin Dogs stands out as one of the gaming and NFT-focused gems in the market. Staking is also live.

Experts have predicted that the Bitcoin ecosystem could see GameFi, DeFi and gaming explode in coming years, and Pantera Capital noted earlier in the year that this market could grow to over $500 billion.

With analysts noting that a risk-on sentiment may see Bitcoin price rise further, it’s possible a cascade to the broader crypto market will follow. Bitcoin Dogs’ listing on Gate.io, MEXC and Unisat may fuel $0DOG price.

US elections, geopolitical tensions and the macro environment may be key factors to watch though.

BlastUP token lists on Bitget and MEXC, unlocking new opportunities

  • BLASTUP token gets listed on Bitget and MEXC, with trading starting August 20.
  • Bitget offers staking rewards and a giveaway of 572,143 BLASTUP tokens.
  • 30% of BLASTUP supply burned, boosting scarcity and potential price increase.

BlastUP launchpad platform, the first launchpad on the Blast blockchain, has marked a significant milestone with the listing of its native token, BLASTUP, on two prominent centralized exchanges (CEXs), Bitget and MEXC.

This listing is a major breakthrough for the launchpad, coming on the heels of an $8 million presale and a highly anticipated token generation event (TGE).

The success of the $BLASTUP presale was a clear indicator of the market’s confidence in the BlastUP project. Nearly 20,000 investors participated, contributing a total of $8,095,148 over a span of 3.5 months.

This substantial financial backing was crucial in fueling the platform’s growth and expansion. The TGE on August 20 marked the official launch of BLASTUP on the Blast network, with the first 20% of presale tokens unlocked and distributed to holders.

BLASTUP trading on BitGet and MEXC starts on August 20

On August 20, 2024, the BLASTUP/USDT trading pair became available to over 35 million users across Bitget and MEXC, two exchanges with a combined 24-hour trading volume of approximately $3 billion.

The initial listing price for BLASTUP was set at $0.07 per token, opening up new possibilities for investors and traders, as both exchanges prepare to enable BLASTUP withdrawals starting August 21.

Bitget offers BLASTUP token incentives

In tandem with the listing, Bitget introduced several community incentives aimed at engaging and rewarding its users.

One of the key promotions allows users to stake their BTC or USDT on the PoolX platform, with the opportunity to earn a share of 2,285,000 BLASTUP tokens. This limited-time offer, available until August 30, provides a unique chance for participants to grow their BLASTUP holdings.

Additionally, a special giveaway on Bitget offers 300 qualified users who engage in BLASTUP/USDT spot trades a chance to win a share of 572,143 BLASTUP tokens.

BLASTUP staking opportunities

Holders of the BLASTUP token are poised to benefit from various staking opportunities within the BlastUP ecosystem.

By staking their tokens, users can unlock access to the platform’s Initial DEX Offering (IDO) launchpad and earn up to 12% APR, depending on the lock-up period.

The longer the stake, the more BLASTUP tokens and Booster Points users accumulate, enhancing their participation in community incentive programs and increasing their eligibility for airdrops.

Looking ahead, the roadmap for BlastUP hints at several exciting developments, including the launch of features like MemePad, BlastUP Shield, and an AI IDO screener. Furthermore, the platform recently burned 30% of its total $BLASTUP supply, a strategic move expected to increase scarcity and potentially drive up the token’s price in the post-TGE market.

With these initiatives, BlastUP is well-positioned to continue its upward trajectory, offering robust opportunities for its community and setting new standards in the decentralized finance space.

Curve founder Michael Egorov proposes 21m CRV funding for Swiss Stake AG

  • Michael Egorov’s proposal seeks new funding for Swiss Stake AG, the organisation building Curve.
  • The Curve founder says a 21 million CRV grant will help fund the DeFi protocol’s research and development projects.
  • Community members have criticised the proposal’s lack of a clear roadmap and transparncy to how funds will be used.

Curve founder Michael Egorov has outlined a proposal seeking community approval for new funding for Swiss Stake AG, the company building the decentralised finance (DeFi) protocol.

In his proposal, the Curve Finance founder requests that the community approves a 21 million CRV token grant to the Switzerland-based entity. The 21 million CRV total $6.34 million at current CRV prices and will be used to finance Swiss Stake AG’s research and development initiatives, Egorov wrote.

If approved, the funding will come from the Curve Community Fund and tokens would be vested over one year. The Community Fund currently holds just over 47.5 million CRV tokens.

“This proposal requests a grant for software research and development work as well as related tasks for the benefit of Curve as outlined within this proposal. The grant will be for one year, unused funds will be rolled over to the next year,” the Curve founder noted.

Swiss Stake AG has depleted the CRV allocation it received in August 2020, and needs the funding to continue its R&D task, including remuneration for the over 25 team.

Proposal faces some backlash

Reactions to the Curve founder’s proposal have included criticism over the lack of a clear and detailed roadmap for grant utilisation.

“I totally understand the need, and the Swiss Stake AG deserves it! However, it would be amazing if you could share a product/strategy roadmap + cost breakdown like Aave does. More transparency is always appreciated!” a Curve community member said.

The CRV token price was $0.3035 as of 10 am CET on Tuesday, August 20, 2024.
