SEC ends investigation into Ethereum 2.0, tokens pump

  • Ethereum and other altcoins jumped after the latest news around the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)’s investigation into whether ETH is a security.
  • Lido DAO spiked double digits while Uniswap, Solana and Cardano also surged.

ETH spikes after Consensys vs. SEC news

Ethereum rose to highs of $3,586 on Wednesday morning as the market reacted to an announcement from Consensys that the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) had ended its investigation into Ethereum 2.0.

Consensys wrote that Ethereum had “survived” SEC.

“Today we’re happy to announce a major win for Ethereum developers, technology providers, and industry participants: the Enforcement Division of the SEC has notified us that it is closing its investigation into Ethereum 2.0.”

According to the blockchain software company, the SEC’s decision to end the probe means that the regulator will not file charges related to ETH sales being securities transactions.

“The closing of the Ethereum investigation is momentous, but it’s not a cure-all for the many blockchain developers, technology providers, and industry participants who have suffered under SEC’s unlawful and aggressive crypto enforcement regime,” the firm added.

SEC approved Ether spot ETFs

Consensys sued the SEC in April after the regulator initiated an investigation into Ethereum 2.0. Reports indicated the SEC’s investigation started in March 2023.

However, the regulator went on to approve the spot Ethereum ETFs in May this year, with the development pointing to a shift in the agency’s outlook.

Today’s news comes a few days after Consensys wrote to the SEC over this.

On June 7, the company send a letter asking whether approving spot Ether ETFs meant that Ethereum is a commodity and that the agency would drop its investigation.

A reaction across the market saw other altcoins pump alongside ETH. Lido DAO rose more than 19%, while Solana, Cardano and Uniswap also traded higher, rising more than 4% each.

SOLJU’s beverage-themed meme coin launches on Solana. Will it rally like Beercoin?

Key takeaways

  • Solju is introducing beverages to the meme coin ecosystem by blending South Korea’s popular Soju alcoholic beverage drink with Solana’s innovation.
  • The presale is slated to commence in 24 hours, with a 100 million token supply.

Meme coins have been among the leading cryptocurrencies’ best performers over the last 12 months. Coins like Pepe, Dogiwfhat, and Bonk are now amongst the top 100 cryptocurrencies by market cap thanks to their recent rallies.

With investors taking favorably to meme coins, new ones are emerging in the market. Solju is a meme coin that is approaching the market differently and could be appealing to investors.

What is Solju?

SolJu is a new token that is created from a blend of South Korea’s pop culture and the Solana blockchain. Soju is a clear and colorless Korean distilled alcoholic beverage, traditionally made from rice and consumed neat.

The blend of Soju and Solana is an interesting one. Solana is the world’s most accessible and commercially scalable blockchain while Soju is the most popular spirit ranked via volume sold.

In addition to its rich history, SolJu is an interesting project because it is diverting from the popular meme culture. The crypto space is home to thousands of meme coins. However, most of the meme coins are animal-based.

We have the Shiba Inu, Dogwifhat, and Dogecoin that are dog-themed, PEPE is frog-themed, and many cat-themed meme coins.

SolJu is diverting to inanimate meme coins, with its beverage-themed cryptocurrency. According to the development team, token holders gather on the Solana blockchain, forming a makeshift Pojangmacha where good food and better company are alight.

The team is leveraging South Korea’s position as the third-largest cryptocurrency market in the world. Its token will provide economic incentives and culture to investors and users. Soju brings cultural depth, and Solana bridges the future with the past. Fusion is the crux of moving forward.

Should investors invest in this beverage-themed meme coin?

SolJu could be an interesting project for investors and users thanks to its unique approach to the market. Unlike the other animal and political-themed meme coins in the market, SolJu is coming as a beverage-themed meme coin.

The project is also leveraging South Korea’s position as the third-largest cryptocurrency market in the world to cement its place as a meme coin with massive potential.

By launching on the Solana blockchain, SolJu is set to enjoy the network’s benefits, including fast and cheap transactions. Beercoin (BEER) is another beverage-themed meme coin on the Solana blockchain that has attracted investors and SolJu could follow the same path.

Solju’s presale commences tomorrow, 100% fair launch

SolJu’s presale commences in 24 hours and could be a huge opportunity for investors to purchase the tokens at a discount. According to the development team, SolJu will carry out a 100% fair launch for its presale.

A 100% fair launch implies that the token will go live with a distribution mechanism that’s community-focused. The fair launch mechanism has proven to be the most successful method for launching new tokens, thanks to its ability to guarantee distributed ownership.

With SolJu’s presale, no tokens would be set aside for the team or insider wallets. The project has a total supply of 100 million tokens. SolJu will have an initial liquidity of $12,000, with SOLJU priced at $0.00012.

Per their roadmap, SolJu is currently in the Fermentation phase, which includes the fair launch, marketing push, and CoinMarketCap and Coingecko listings. The next phase is Distillation, where the team focuses on listing SOLJU on centralised exchanges and organising a community meme competition.

Waka Flocka Flame (FLOCKA) debut hit with insider trading allegations

  • Waka Flocka Flame’s FLOCKA token launch marred by 40% supply grab pre-announcement.
  • Blockchain investigator flags rapid token distribution post-launch as insider trading.
  • Critics question celebrity crypto credibility amid past promotions and transparency lapses.

The intersection of celebrities and cryptocurrency has often been a volatile one, marked by both intrigue and controversy. The launch of Waka Flocka Flame’s FLOCKA token exemplifies this dynamic, with allegations of insider trading casting a shadow over its debut.

In this article we delve into the details surrounding the FLOCKA insider trading accusations, examining the timeline of events, expert opinions, and the broader implications for celebrity involvement in the crypto market.

Waka Flocka Flame insider trading allegations

The launch of Waka Flocka Flame’s FLOCKA cryptocurrency on June 17, 2024, was accompanied by immediate scrutiny due to suspicious transactional activity.

Prior to the official announcement of the token’s launch, approximately 40% of FLOCKA’s total supply was swiftly acquired by a single wallet. This wallet then proceeded to distribute these tokens to multiple other addresses shortly after the token went live on the market.

Blockchain investigator ZachXBT was quick to highlight these actions, describing them as indicative of deliberate market manipulation.

ZachXBT’s investigation revealed that the wallet in question executed rapid dispersals of FLOCKA tokens across a network of alt wallets immediately after acquiring a substantial portion of the supply.

This pattern raised red flags within the crypto community, suggesting insider knowledge or coordinated efforts to control the token’s initial market dynamics.

Such activities not only undermine trust in the fairness of the token launch but also raise regulatory concerns regarding insider trading in the cryptocurrency space.

Bubblemaps, an onchain visual analytical platform, echoed these concerns, labeling the pre-launch acquisition of 40% of FLOCKA’s supply as “huge insider activity.” The platform’s CEO, Nicolas Vaiman, criticized the trend of celebrities venturing into crypto without sufficient understanding, pointing out the risks posed by such ventures to investors and the market at large.

According to Bubblemaps’ analysis, the rapid dispersal of tokens across multiple wallets immediately post-launch further substantiates claims of market manipulation orchestrated through insider channels.

Flame’s involvements in promoting questionable crypto projects

Beyond the immediate allegations of insider trading, Waka Flocka Flame’s foray into cryptocurrency has been met with broader criticism and scrutiny.

ZachXBT highlighted Flame’s previous involvements in promoting questionable crypto projects and undisclosed paid promotions, dating back to 2021 and 2022.

These past actions raise concerns about the rapper’s credibility and motives within the crypto community, suggesting a pattern of behavior that prioritizes personal gain over ethical transparency.

And despite Flame stating that he had been studying crypto since 2021, critics argue that celebrities entering the cryptocurrency space often lack the necessary expertise and understanding of blockchain technology and market dynamics.

This gap in knowledge, coupled with the allure of quick financial gains, can create a breeding ground for unethical practices such as insider trading and misleading promotional tactics.
